Fred Kelly Thumbpicks

Guitarist Fred Kelly has designed a unique line of fine quality thumb picks which Mel Bay Publications, Inc., is now making available. Our sampler package contains one dozen randomly assorted picks made of polycarb or delrin in 3 styles (Slick PickTM, Speed PickTM, and Regular Pick) and various blade gauges (extra heavy, heavy, medium, and light).

All of Fred Kelly’s picks are injected molded which allows his unique wrap around design. This wrap around design of the thumb hole features the same heavy material regardless of the blade gauge. These picks offer superior flexibility and comfort while at the same time they will not snag or catch on the strings.

The Slick Pick

The Slick Pick^TM has a flat pick point that enhances smooth strumming. The pick is not big or bulky and is the first pick that acts like a straight pick.

Currently, the Slick Pick^TM is offered in two different materials: delrin and polycarb. Both the delrin and the polycarb offer their own unique qualities to suit individual tastes. Delrin material offers a soft tone and slippery surface which gives you a smooth glide over the strings. The delrin Slick Pick^TM is available in four blade gauges of light, medium, heavy and x-heavy. Polycarb material offers a bright tone and gives a different feel on the thumb in comparison to the delrin material. The colors of the polycarb material are appealing to the eye and they are the only pick on the market that have a colored transparent look. The polycarb Slick Pick^TM is available in three blade gauges of medium, heavy and x-heavy.

The Speed Pick

The Speed Pick^TM comes in three different blade gauges of light, medium and heavy. This pick is faster on the strings than other picks and allows for truer tonal clarity. This blade can be twisted to give different angles without altering the thumb hole. The Speed Pick^TM is offered only in delrin material.

The Regular Pick

The Regular Pick comes in both the polycarb material and the delrin material and is offered in the heavy gauge only.
