A Place of Rest
by William Bay
A Place of Rest is a contemplative piece written in the style of an Appalachian Ballad. It should be played with sensitivity and expression. Interpret it freely and do not feel bound to set rhythmic values. The harmony is primarily quartal and provides contrast to the pensive, lyrical melodic theme. This solo was written for acoustic 7 string guitar (7th string tuned to low B) however it may be performed successfully on a 6 string guitar. I have presented alternate notes for the low B pedal tones in the guitar tab part.
